Purple Bell Pepper

Kittens really take up a lot of your time and energy. Luka is a ball of energy, and incredibly needy. Every time I leave the house to go outside, she cries and puts her paws to the window. It's really cute, but at the same time, so tiring! My garden has been neglected for the past weekend because of my little kitten.

But today I was able to leave Luka for a little bit and tend to my "big" baby--my vegetable garden. The purple bell pepper is now almost completely purple. It's kinda strange to think that it was once a tiny little pepper.

Below: The progression of the purple bell.

Now I'm wondering if the bell pepper is ready to be picked or if I should wait and see if it grows any larger? It's a pretty small bell pepper right now.

Ohhh, I don't know....I like my peppers about palm size, any thing bigger I think gets bitter, color throws me off.

How exciting...pick it and see how it tastes and then you'll know what to do with the others!

Looking good. Kitties are needy, dogs too, and even rabbits. The birds are the best, not needy at all.

We have a Purple Pepper plant also! Same Bonnie plant company as you. The Saint spotted it and just had to give it a try. We have one small purple pepper as I type but will wait a while longer on picking it...

Looks good to eat to me! You'll get more as your plants grow so you may as well enjoy your first purple pepper.

Dawn, Dave, and Gail--Thanks for the tip! I may harvest it after it is completely purple. I'm excited to taste it!

Tina- I love her neediness to a point... because it's like "Oh, i love you, and I don't want you to leave me" :-D

Skeeter-Let me know if your purple bell gets any bigger. Btw-do you have to fertilize the soil a lot? We bought this "plant food" soil mix, which has fertilizer in it.

i think it's not ready yet for picking. leave it for two days from now. but as i see it you made it grow so good.

I am attempting my first Container garden. I posted about it with Tina on "In the Garden" a while back. When filling the pots with dirt, I used Miracle Grow dirt for Veggies and Flowers. This way I should not have to fertilize at all...

All hot and sweet peppers are doing great but other stuff not looking so well. Heat getting to them before they are ready for the 100 degrees temps we have had lately...

Hi Skeeter, I think the heat is getting to some of my veggies as well! We need rain I think to cool everything down.
