Today's post is short and sweet. This week's light frost has killed almost all of my plants. Even drapping the cloth over the tomato plants didn't help them. All of the green summer leaves have withered and only sadness remains.
I'll post pictures of the sad garden this weekend.
The only thing that currently survives are the carrots. The leaves are still green, and I'll be harvesting those soon.

Yup, it comes this time of year. I will be posting a picture of my little Compost kitty I found about the same time you found Luka next week. She has grown and still bad!

tis the season for death. It's time to take a break and await the seed catalogs that should be arriving jan-feb.
We had two light frosts. My lettuce looks fantastic! I still have some herbs that are good such as chives, oregano, and the basil is still okay.
Nothing else to brag about.
We had a frost today too DP. It didn't kill anything, but then again my summer veggies are long gone. :(
Hi DP, that is very sad. I had planted some things in August, now I understand why people do that,it was my first attempt. Arugula, sugar snap peas, spinach and radishes all look great, despite the killing frosts we have had, no covering them either. Lesson learned. Try it next year.

Death in the garden is such a sad time... Tomato, peppers still going strong in our garden. But not for long as Jack Frost will soon arrive...

I've pretty much cleaned up our garden area. Those frosts did our plants in too.
Hi dp, Sorry you lost everything but it happens every yr. about this time. We had a light frost here but the only thing I see that has "bit the dust" is a certain Coleus. The other coleus are ok. I too still have tomatoes {better than in the Spring}, the long bells, & of course the banana peppers. I think they are the hardiest.
Now is the start of the time to think about next year and all the great things that garden will hold :)
I hated to lose the tomatoes too. I have them for such a brief time.

Hi Dan- I've just ordered some seeds from Seed Saver! Now I need to figure out how to store them!
Hi Susie- Lettuce and herbs do very well in the fall. Our herbs are still growing strong, it's only our summer plants that have gone away.
