I have trained them to let me clip the nails. I let them sniff the clippers, then gently pick them up and lay them on their backs while in my lap then get to work. I am quick as they do bore easily. Afterwards, they get treats. They struggled with me when we first started to clip nails but in time, they learn they will be getting a treat so this is a good experience for them.

You must be careful to not clip the nails too short or it can hurt them and bleed then this will become a bad experience for them….Skeeterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08222522533934405029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411587390928773196.post-59485027269942619842008-09-05T22:33:00.000-05:002008-09-05T22:33:00.000-05:00Even though I'm not a fan of eggplant your dish lo...Even though I'm not a fan of eggplant your dish looked yummy!

Love the pics of Luka. LoL.

Hi John, Thanks, I do love my kitten. The eggplant was delicious. It's so yummy to eat fresh food from my garden.

Hi Tina- Thanks. The eggplant was so yummy.

Hi Jennifer, Next time I make it, I will post the recipe on the blog. Normally, I just cook out of whim and throw together what tastes good and season to my taste, so I never measure, lol.

I really love my kitten. She's only 4 months, but she is kind of a punk too, lol. But a lovable one.

Hi Skeeter- It was getting a little soft, and that's when I picked them. I guess it was just right. Tell the Saint he's righto!

I wish Luka was not a biter. She has a scratching post that she scratches on throughout the day, but for some reason, she likes to nibble on my ankles and crawl on my leg and bite my hands and run away. I guess it's a "nip" but still.

I may have to try to clip her nails. When do you do it? When they are half asleep?

She doesn't scratch the furniture, thank goodness, but she might in t he future. Who knows? lol.

Hi PGL, I'll check it out. Thanks :-)

Hi Mick, No worries, I am completely against declawing. I think it is against the law of nature and very inhumane. I think it is absolutely cruel, and I think its awful that people do it. Their feet and claws are their natural defense, if they get lose outside, they need it to defend themselves. No matter how bad she is, I will never do such a thing to her. I love her too much.

I might try to clip her nails though. She also has a scratching post that she uses every day, and she does enjoy scratching on it. But she likes to climb up my leg and bite me. I need to break her of that habit. But I'm working on it. I am a weak momma. LoL. I spoil her.

Hi Dawn, Luka loves her scratching post too, she goes crazy for it, lol. I'm glad you also did not declaw. :-)DP Nguyenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13729511776841579464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411587390928773196.post-38599537977735565742008-09-05T20:36:00.000-05:002008-09-05T20:36:00.000-05:00Hi dp,Ditto to what Mick said, cats are over exhur...Hi dp,
Ditto to what Mick said, cats are over exhurted when panting and like a puppy (will eat til they get sick....) kittens will play FOREVER! I'm glad you AND Skeeter did not declaw, ouch, ouch, ouch!
I'm lucky, both my cats like, NO love, the cardboard scratchpads you can buy at Wally world. It comes with cat nip.
You had sucess with eggplant!Dawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00234495965199888943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411587390928773196.post-90135778504113823502008-09-05T18:34:00.000-05:002008-09-05T18:34:00.000-05:00Hello dpCats normally do not pant as dogs do unles...Hello dp

Cats normally do not pant as dogs do unless extremely overheated or stressed. They do sweat, but through their paws which is only a small surface area. It's not good if Luka's panting heavily. This means she's overheated and should be calmed down a little and be in a cool place. She's a young energetic cat and "full of beans" as they say. I suggest you play with her but make her calm down a little if she starts to pant.

As for the claws, I'm just very, very glad that you haven't had her declawed. It's an awful process which actually removes the end of the cats toe, not just the nail. This makes it hard for the cat to walk as they walk on their toes. Cats need to scratch, it's just not good when it's your legs!! :-(
Perhaps you could get Luka a good scratching post and rub a little catnip on it to encourage her to use it more.Mickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16593315653021649411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411587390928773196.post-74107620212273997332008-09-05T17:25:00.000-05:002008-09-05T17:25:00.000-05:00I have a surprise for you, please visit my blog to...I have a surprise for you, please visit my blog to pick it up! :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4411587390928773196.post-32288614944230812072008-09-05T16:50:00.000-05:002008-09-05T16:50:00.000-05:00What a tasty looking meal you made with those eggp...What a tasty looking meal you made with those eggplants from your garden. The Saint told me he read that the egg plant should be a bit soft when you pick it so maybe your eggplant was just right for the “pickens”….

Luka is so darn cute! Reminds me of my girls when they were younger. They are about 6 years old now but still playful and chase each other all over the house each morning and evening. They are not biters and I have trained them to not scratch the furniture with their claws. I clip them monthly to keep them dull. Since they are inside only, they don’t need sharp claws plus if I don’t clip them, they continue to grow and I am sure they are uncomfortable. I don't know about the panting, but when tiny kittens run, it sounds like buffalo stampeding up the stairs;) How does a 2 pound kitten they make that much noise?

I'll stop by your friends web site and say hi.
MarnieRoses and Lilacshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07121676379580186489noreply@blogger.com
